Delta 8 FAQ

What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta 8 is one of more than a hundred cannabinoids found within the marijuana plant. It produces similar effects to those of Delta 9 THC, which is a powerful psychotropic found in cannabis responsible for evoking an iconic “high” in its users. Delta 8 is nearly identical to Delta 9 THC on a chemical level, but since it’s technically a different compound, Delta 8 is not bound by the same legal constraints. This compound can be extracted from hemp, and consequently, a booming industry has blossomed around the sale of Delta 8 THC carts, gummies, and tinctures.

The Effects of Delta 8

So, how does Delta 8 make you feel? The effects of Delta 8 vary from person to person, and your experience will be contingent on how you ingest it and what strain you choose.

Here are the main effects of Delta 8 that users report:

- Increased relaxation

- A sense of calm

- Feeling happy or content

- A heightened ability to focus

- Increased energy

- Increased appetite

When it comes to creating your desired experience, it’s all about picking the right strain. If you’re more concerned with energy and focus a Sativa blend could be a good fit for you. Sativa is an excellent option for daytime use as it will keep you alert while stimulating creativity. On the other hand, if you’re looking for something to help you unwind after a long day or fall asleep quickly, an Indica blend would be your best bet. If you don’t want to choose between one or the other, our Hybrid products provide a mixture of both Sativa and Indica’s effects.

It’s important to note that the effects of gummies may be delayed up to 45 minutes from the time of ingestion. Tinctures work faster than edibles, but there is also a delay. If you’d rather not wait, our THC carts work by absorbing vapor into your lungs, and they are the fastest working form of Delta 8.

Is Delta 8 Right for Me?

Due to the mild nature of Delta 8, virtually anyone above the age of 21 could benefit from its soothing effects. Whether you want something to help you relax after work or you need something to alleviate a more severe issue like chronic pain—Delta 8 has a vast array of medicinal and recreational uses.

Delta 8 is also a terrific marijuana alternative. Many people who use Delta 9 THC products report experiencing some symptoms of anxiety or paranoia. Delta 8 has no reported instances of inducing stress, it provides a much smoother, mellow high in comparison. If you’re someone who has tried marijuana previously and didn’t like it—or someone who enjoys marijuana occasionally but doesn’t want to get too high—then Delta 8 might be a great substitute.

Delta 8 is also a great option if you would like to reap the benefits of THC, but live in a state where recreational marijuana use is still illegal.

What is Delta 9 THC?

Delta 9 or Delta 9-Tetrahydrocannabinol is the traditional version of THC and is the active ingredient in the Marijuana plant. This cannabinoid provides the typical “high” associated with cannabis products, and it is currently federally illegal in most states in the U.S.

What is the Difference Between Delta 8 and Delta-9?

So what makes Delta 8 different than Delta 9? It all comes down to each cannabinoids chemical makeup. Delta 9 THC is an acronym for the molecule delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. It gets its name from the double bond on the ninth link along its chain of carbon atoms. Delta 9 is the most prevalent ingredient in marijuana and the most psychoactive cannabinoid. Delta 8 is a THC molecule as well, however, it is an isomer of Delta 9, meaning it has the same basic molecular structure and the same number of atoms, just a different arrangement of those atoms. Delta 8 THC contains its double bond on the eighth carbon link instead of the ninth.

So what are the implications of such a minute molecular difference? Cannabinoids work by binding to the endocannabinoid system (ENS) in the body. When it interacts with the ENS, Delta 8 produces an effect closely mirroring that of Delta 9. Comparable experiences are produced, but with the former, the sensations are less pronounced. The divergence lies within the degree of potency. Simply put, Delta 8 is a less intense version of Delta 9.

With Delta 8, you get the same positive effects of cannabis (happiness, euphoria, relaxation pain relief) without the negative symptoms (anxiety, heart racing, feeling “too high”).

CBD is another common cannabinoid that can be extracted from hemp, but unlike Delta 8, CBD contains no psychoactive properties. While CBD can give a person a feeling of calmness or relaxation, sometimes referred to as a “body high,” it has no psychotropic qualities to elicit mood enhancement or euphoria.

What Makes CBD Different From THC?

The biggest thing that makes CBD, or Cannabidiol, different from THC, Tetrahydrocannabinol, is the fact that CBD isn’t psychoactive, and therefore won’t give you the “high feeling that THC products do. However, CBD still has a multitude of beneficial medicinal qualities for many users. THC has many of the same medicinal properties as CBD but also gives users a psychoactive experience.

Is Delta 8 Legal?

Delta 8 is fully legal under federal law due to the 2018 Farm Bill. Also known as the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, this legislation changed the legal classification of hemp from a controlled substance to an agricultural commodity. Wording within the bill states that any cannabis derivative containing less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC would no longer be defined as marijuana in regards to the controlled substances act. Because Delta 8 contains less than 0.3% of Delta 9, it is legal to produce, distribute, and sell in the United States.

However, each state makes its own rules and regulations in regards to hemp products, and multiple states, including Utah, Rhode Island, Montana, Mississippi, Iowa, Idaho, Delaware, Colorado, Arkansas, Arizona, and Alaska, have either restricted or banned Delta 8.

As long as you live in a state that has not outlawed Delta 8, you can purchase Delta 8 products online and have them shipped directly to your door. For the fastest shipping and the highest quality Delta 8 products, check out our lineup here at Elyxr.

Is It Legal to Ship Delta 8?

Hemp products like Delta 8 can safely and legally be shipped through the United States Postal Service (USPS) to most states, however, we cannot ship to multiple states that have strict hemp laws. Information on hemp laws by specific states can be found here.

Can Anyone Purchase Delta 8?

There is not currently a federal minimum age requirement to purchase Delta 8, however, some states require consumers to be 21 years old or older to purchase cannabis products. It’s always a good idea to check your specific state’s requirements before attempting to purchase hemp products.

Where Can I Get Delta 8?

If you live in a state where Delta 8 is legal you can get this cannabinoid virtually anywhere. However, it’s important to be very selective about where you get your cannabis products from.

You can ensure that you are getting high-quality hemp products if the company you are purchasing from provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for its products. A COA certifies that a company has conducted a thorough lab analysis on its products and that those products meet certain quality and safety standards.
